Thong graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He then earned a Master of Public Health from Purdue University in 2021. He later returned to school at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing, graduating in 2025. He was certified through the PNCB as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2025. His nursing experience spans both outpatient and inpatient settings, including work as an outpatient pediatric allergy nurse and as an inpatient nurse in pediatric and young adult medical-surgical care.
